Rory Herbert has a deep passion for film-making and story telling of all genres. He has been a freelance script supervisor for the past 5 years
and has worked on numerous features, including; Kandahar Break, The Holding and Best Laid Plans and has worked with many talented
directors like; David Blair (The Street, Accused) and Douglas Mackinnon (The Flying Scotsman) as well as up-and-coming directors; David
Whitney, Susan Jacobson and Tinge Krishnan.
In relation to script supervising every project is different and every director is different. Rory prides himself on being very adaptable to different
styles of film-making and can easily fit in with the way a director works. He has a very observant and keen eye for detail for all aspects of
continuity; and his paperwork and timings are very efficient and accurate. Rory has recently moved to the digital ScrptE system. This is a system
whereby daily paperwork during a shoot can also (as well as the traditional way if required by the production office) be kept digitally and emailed
to the production office and edit suites. It also incorporates an image capture system where snap-shots of each individual take can be captured
and stored under each scene number. This is not only useful for continuity purposes but also, a hard-copy file containing the film in stills format
can be passed to production as the shoot progresses; very useful to show the films progress to the likes of producers and executive producers.
As well as feature film work Rory has also begun to work in different formats; both television and commercials. He has recently finished work on
Bert and Dickie, a BBC film-for-tv, the new series Line of Duty and is currently working on the second series of Accused. Rory can easily transfer
his skills and experience from film script supervising to the TV and commercial's format; and he is very keen to pursue these types of productions.
